Not Clear on the Concept?

It seems that athletes participating in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing will not be allowed to be treated with Chinese herbs. This, they say, is “in order to avoid doping problems.” Acupuncture and any other “non-drug” traditional treatments will be allowed, however.

As I try to process my sentiments on this ruling, I'm wondering if others have thoughts on this?

yeah... I think it's good for the olympics to stay as clear of any misconceptions as they possibly can. The Olympics are so plagued by doping scandals, it has had an impact on the integrity AND attendance/viewership of the event. I think the OC really has no choice but to make sure it stays above reproach in it's guidelines.

Now in the real world... of course it's going overboard... but the media has pretty much pushed the OC to really tighten it's belt on things like this.

Blame the media, who is always looking for a scandal to write about.

Hi Danny Vice,

I agree with you. I guess I hate the way everyone has to suffer because of one—or in this case, many—bad apples.
